Post Doctoral opening in Powder Diffraction at IPNS
A post-doctoral position in neutron powder diffraction is immediately
available at the Intense Pulsed Neutron Source (IPNS), Argonne National
Laboratory. The successful applicant will participate in on-going
scientific programs which include: crystal chemistry and structure-property
relationships in ceramic membranes and mixed-conductors, crystallographic
and dynamics studies of occluded zeolites - particularly directed at
guest-framework interactions, and phase relationships in intermetallic
alloys. Other responsibilities may include development of neutron
scattering instrumentation - as part of an IPNS initiative, and user support
on the General Purpose Powder Diffractometer (GPPD) at IPNS.
A PhD degree awarded within the last three years in a discipline such as
materials science, chemistry, or physics is required. Highly desirable is a
motivated scientist with a strong background in x-ray or neutron scattering,
including familiarity with crystallography, powder diffraction and
structure/property relationships.
