Staff Openings in Argonne Materials Science Division
-----------------------------------------------------
The Neutron and X-ray Scattering Group of the Materials Science Division at
Argonne National Laboratory is seeking candidates for permanent staff
positions in neutron scattering. Applicants will be considered in several
areas of neutron scattering, including: powder diffraction, diffuse
scattering, quasielastic and inelastic scattering, small-angle scattering,
and reflectometry. Areas of research that are of current interest include:
superconducting materials, magnetoresistive materials, ferroelectrics,
fast-ion conductors for battery, fuel cell, and ceramic membrane
applications, magnetic films and multilayers, quantum critical phenomena,
conducting polymers, and soft biological materials. Additional information
about the Neutron and X-ray Scattering Group can be found at
www.msd.anl.gov/groups/nxrs/index.html. The level of appointment will
depend on the qualifications of the candidate. At a minimum, candidates
must have received a Ph.D. in physics, chemistry, or a similar discipline
and have at least two years experience beyond Ph.D. in a research
environment. More senior candidates are also being sought. Candidates will
be judged on their past research accomplishments and ability to lead an
independent research program. Preference will be given to candidates who can
lead or help establish new research areas within the group.

Interested persons should submit a resume to James D. Jorgensen, Materials
Science Division, Building 223, Argonne National Laboratory, Argonne, IL
60439. Phone 630-252-5513; FAX 630-252-7777; e-mail JJorgensen at ANL.GOV.
Argonne National Laboratory is an Equal Opportunity employer.
