Laboratoire Léon Brillouin encourage applications for the open CNRS
position with the following description :

N° 15/07 - 1 Junior research scientist

>From molecular engineering to relevant properties : multiscale analysis
by neutron scattering at LLB.

General. The chemical engineering group of Laboratoire Léon Brillouin is
exploring complex systems of soft condensed matter : structure,
dynamics, and the response of soft matter to a mechanical,
electromagnetic, or chemical sollicitation; this is done using neutron
techniques such as Small Angle Neutron Scattering (and soon Ultra Small
Angle Scattering, USANS), reflectivity, and inelastic scattering. These
techniques open the way to the understanding of how molecular design
leads to the desired properties, through a large range of scales, from
0.1 to several hundred nanometres. One of our missions is to make
spectrometers accessible to research groups of the Soft Matter community.
In this background, we are looking for a physico-chemist, interested in
establishing the bridge between chemical synthesis, foreseen physical
properties, and neutron technics, in both his user oriented activity and
his personal activity.

Personal project. The in-house research has two poles, in order to allow
the best interaction with external users: one is chemical synthesis
(grafted particles, new routes of controled polymerisation), the other
is the insight in physical relevant properties obtained by associating
several elementary properties: polymers mechanically reinforced by
particles, liquid crystalline polymers, polymers with variable
entanglement rate, associations between polyelectrolytes, biopolymers
and proteins. The candidate must be able to keep strong the link between
these two poles.
