Postdoc in physics, chemistry or materials science for SANS

HMI operates a beamline for small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) for users
from universities and for HMI’s own research, e.g. to characterise complex
alloys, ceramics or magnetic liquids. A second beamline under construction
will be dedicated to soft matter research or biophysics. The team of
scientists responsible for the development and operation of both beamlines
will be enlarged. The main focus is the further development of instruments
and methods, especially related to time-of flight methods, polarisation
analysis and novel focussing techniques.

We are currently looking for a postdoctoral fellow. Your tasks are:

- Development of methods and algorithms for the analysis of small-angle
scattering data from a variety of systems

- Implementation of research projects utilising SANS

- Participation in the user service of the SANS beamlines

Required qualifications:

- Ability and readiness to work in and to lead a team

- Special knowledge in neutron scattering

- Experience on the field of solid state or materials research, soft matter
or biological physics

- Experience with data analysis or measurement techniques

This position is limited to 3 years, in case of exceptional qualification
tenure can be envisaged.
