The ISIS Neutron & Muon Facility at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory and the Department of Physics at the University of Warwick wish to appoint a doctoral research student for the study of unconventional superconducting materials which exhibit unusual pairing mechanisms. The PhD student on this project would be involved in the growth and characterisation of polycrystalline and single crystals of such materials, would receive training in a wide variety of techniques of relevance to superconductivity and magnetism research and gain an appreciation of the field of neutron and muon physics for the study of vortex physics.
This PhD studentship is available from the beginning of October 2012.
Please note, due to restrictions applied by the funding agency, only a UK or EU student can be supported on this project.
To discuss the background to this project further contact either: D.M.Paul at warwick.ac.uk or Adrian.Hiller at stfc.ac.uk
