Dear Neutrons,
Could you distribute the following announcement ?
Regards, M.Arai
********************* Message from PHITS office ************************
Dear Sir,
We are glad to announce that 4-days PHITS course will be held
on June 10 (Mon) - 13 (Thu), 2013
at NEA Issy-les-Moulineaux, Paris, France.
This event is organized with the support from OECD NEA.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What is PHITS ?
PHITS (Particle and Heavy Ion Transport code System) is a general
purpose Monte Carlo particle transport simulation code
for all particles over wide energy ranges.
PHITS has been used in many application fields such as
accelerator facilities, radiotherapy, and space radiation.
Particularly, PHITS has been extensively used for optimization study
of the spallation neutron source, design for the neutron scattering
instruments, and shielding design of the neutron beam lines in J-PARC.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The course fee is 500 euro.
The course consists of:
1. General introduction of PHITS
2. Installation of the latest version of PHITS in your laptop PC
(Windows or Mac)
3. Basic lecture (how to setup geometry, source, tally and parameters)
4. Advanced lecture (useful functions, variance reduction, voxel phantom)
5. Excises
The tutors will be Tatsuhiko Sato of JAEA,
Lember Sihver of Chalmers University of Technology,
and more (depends on the number of participants).
Training course registration form is attached in this e-mail.
Please send this form by 9 May 2013 to Catherine ROCHER-THROMAS,
OECD/NEA Data Bank at
programs at oecd-nea.org<mailto:programs at oecd-nea.org>.
Or please see http://www.oecd-nea.org/dbprog/courses/phitsc1.php.
No particular experience with PHITS
or other Monte Carlo codes is required,
but you have to become a registered PHITS user prior to the course.
(see http://phits.jaea.go.jp/howtoget.html in detail)
Please promote the course by forwarding this information
to your colleagues.
Thank you for your consideration.
