Postdoctoral Associate - Condensed Matter Physics/Neutron Scattering
The University of Missouri Research Reactor Center (MURR) has an opening for a Postdoctoral Associate position for up to 2 years. MURR is the largest neutron source (10 MW) on a U.S. campus and is well-suited for neutron scattering research. It currently operates 4 instruments: a triple-axis spectrometer, a reflectometer, and two powder diffractometers.

Primary responsibilities
The successful candidate is expected to enhance the existing neutron scattering program by participating in existing neutron scattering research projects and being involved in upkeep and maintenance of the existing suite of instruments. He/she is encouraged to initiate an active research program of his/her own in Condensed Matter Physics/Materials Science primarily utilizing MURR's instruments.

Qualifications
Candidates are expected to have a PhD in Physics, Chemistry, or Materials Science. A strong background in neutron scattering is required, preferably with expertise in neutron reflectometry - research and instrumentation. The evaluation of candidates will be based upon the strength of the candidate's scientific profile, publication record, and future research potential. The ability to work in a team environment is a must. Effective communication skills, including fluency in English, are essential.

We can offer
The position is initially for one year and renewable for an additional year, contingent upon satisfactory performance. Salary and benefits will be competitive, commensurate with skills and credentials, including pension, life insurance, and accident insurance.

To apply
Please send a CV with list of publications and professional activities, a statement of research interests and accomplishments, and the names and e-mail addresses of 3 references to Dr. Helmut Kaiser, kaiserh at missouri.edu<mailto:kaiserh at missouri.edu> Applications will be accepted until the position is filled with a successful candidate.
The University of Missouri is an equal access, equal opportunity, affirmative action employer fully committed to achieving a diverse faculty & staff.
