[Neutron] Postdoctoral position at U Virginia

The Department of Physics at the University of Virginia is seeking to hire a postdoctoral research associate who has expertise in utilizing neutron and X-ray scattering techniques to explore the structure and dynamics of solid state systems.
Highly motivated candidates with strong interest in quantum materials and experience with diffraction, elastic and inelastic scattering techniques along with sample growth and characterization, are especially encouraged to apply. The successful candidate's research will be performed at the University of Virginia, Department of Physics, while the scattering work will be carried out at national and international facilities.
The appointment will initially be for one year, with the possibility of renewal for one or two additional years if mutually agreeable, and contingent upon available funding. Priority will be given to candidates with experimental expertise in scattering, data analysis and sample growth.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The successful candidate must hold a PhD in experimental condensed matter or materials physics prior to the appointment start date of June 2024. The candidate must have effective oral and written communication skills.
