Instrument Scientist
(Ref: XtremeD)
Job offer:
The Institute of Nanoscience and Materials of Aragon opened a position for an Instrument Scientist to work at the Institut Laue Langevin (ILL) in Grenoble, France, on the new instrument XtremeD, a thermal neutron diffractometer for single crystals and powders adapted to work in extreme conditions of high magnetic field and high pressures, and operated by the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) under the CRG (Collaborating Research Group) regime.
Diploma:
PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Geology, Materials Science or equivalent.
Experience and knowledge:
Experience in neutron scattering techniques will be taken into account. The knowledge of diffraction techniques, crystallography, solid state chemistry or physics, high pressures, and magnetism will be also considered. Moreover, the candidate's previous post-doctoral experience will be valued, especially if this has been developed in the fields mentioned above. Experience in design of advanced scientific instrumentation will also be considered very positively.
Tasks:
Appointed scientists will carry out coordination, preparation and execution of experiments on the aforementioned instrument and should work in close collaboration with the Spanish scientific community of users of neutron techniques.
The employment contract will be carried out by the CSIC through the Institute of Nanoscience and Materials of Aragon and the place of work will be the ILL in Grenoble (France). The salary level will be competitive and will reflect the experience of the successful candidates.
