Post doctoral research assistantship
Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Oxfordshire, UK
3 year fixed term
The laboratory has a vacancy for a post-doctoral assistant to work on
a 3-year EPSRC-funded project on the magnetic structure and dynamics
in colossal magnetoresistive manganites. The position entails
performing neutron scattering experiments at the pulsed neutron source
ISIS at the laboratory and at the Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL) in
Grenoble, and using the results to test and develop microscopic models
of the magnetism in these materials. Part of the project will also
require the development of data analysis programs.
Candidates should have a strong experimental background in the
magnetism of condensed matter. Previous experience of neutron
scattering is desirable and experience in scientific computing and
data analysis is highly desirable. Further information about the post
can be obtained from Dr T.G.Perring's web page:
http://www.isis.rl.ac.uk/excitations/perring.htm.
The post is for a fixed term period of three years. The salary range
is between £17730 & £26600. Progression within the salary range is
dependent upon performance. A non-contributory pension scheme,
flexible working hours and a generous leave allowance are also
offered. Candidates must be able to start in June 1999.
